Alumni-Funded Postgraduate Scholarships

The College is committed to supporting postgraduate students and our vibrant postgraduate community and Middle Common Room offer a great deal to our College. We welcome new students from around the world to study with us as postgraduates alongside recent Chad’s graduates who are continuing their studies at postgraduate level.

These scholarships are provided specifically for current St Chad’s College undergraduates or recent graduates of the College who wish to continue their studies at St Chad’s at postgraduate level. Information about these scholarships will be circulated by the Vice-Principal, Dr Victoria Brown (victoria.h.brown@durham.ac.uk), to current final year students or can be provided upon enquiry via email.

Postgraduate Scholarships and Bursaries

St Chad’s is committed to supporting current Chadsians as they progress to (and through) postgraduate study, either at Masters or PhD level. For this reason we are pleased to welcome applications for a number of alumni-funded Postgraduate Scholarships. These scholarships carry a value of up to £1,500 each and are awarded to students who are continuing or beginning their postgraduate studies at St Chad’s for one year. The scholarships include the Elizabeth Griffiths Scholarship, Jim Tyrrell Postgraduate Bursary, Sandi Russell Postgraduate Bursary and a number other awards.

We are particularly keen to ensure under-represented groups within our community are supported and are therefore especially keen to receive applications from students from low-participation neighbourhoods and those from the North East. We also welcome applications from students who have a desire to enthusiastically contribute to our postgraduate community at St Chad’s.

We are also acutely aware that most students will finish their undergraduate studies with significant debt and that such debt may well put the damper on them considering postgraduate studies.

Information will be circulated to all final year undergraduates and current postgraduate students at St Chad’s College during Easter Term each year with applications general due in June/July.
